Overview
Led the development and expansion of an innovative geolocation feature within Kaiser Permanente's flagship mobile app, scaling from 29 to 200 facilities and reaching 8M members across 6 markets. This technology transformed how members interact with KP facilities and receive preventative care reminders, significantly improving healthcare engagement and operational efficiency.
The Challenge
Kaiser Permanente needed a way to precisely identify when members arrived at medical facilities to streamline facility interactions and improve preventative care engagement. Beyond the technical challenge of facility-level positioning accuracy, we needed to solve for rapid scaling across markets while maintaining high user adoption rates.
The Approach
As Lead Product Manager of the Receive Care workstream, I led a cross-functional team of 8 professionals to implement a Bluetooth beacon-based solution. We focused on creating a frictionless enrollment experience and scalable infrastructure that would deliver timely, relevant healthcare reminders while maintaining patient privacy and security.
What I Did
- Led product strategy and execution for the geolocation feature set, expanding from 29 to 200 facilities
- Managed a cross-functional team of designers, QA specialists, and engineers
- Redesigned the enrollment experience achieving a 9.9% lift in completion rates
- Developed and scaled preventative care reminders including flu shots, COVID boosters, and mammograms
- Implemented facility-aware prescription pickup notifications
- Reduced time-to-market for new care reminders by 17x through infrastructure improvements
- Coordinated beacon installation and maintenance across 200 facilities in 6 markets
"Through innovative design and scalable infrastructure, we transformed a pilot program into a enterprise-wide solution that meaningfully impacts preventative care engagement."
